Review of the West Midlands Regional Wood Energy Strategy
Significant progress had been made in implementing the Wood Energy Strategy, launched in 2003. The 2006 Review recommends that in addition to driving market development and communicating the benefits of woodfuel, we need to concentrate on developing an effective and integrated supply chain.
You can download a copy of the Review in .pdf format here (4.56mb).
Some highlights:
- 10 woodfuel awareness raising events
- 4 boilers funded through regions Heartwoods grant
- 7 new installations brokered
- 4 market development studies undertaken
- A network of 40 key regional stakeholders as the Wood Energy Task Group
The review was discussed at a meeting of the WETG who helped formulate the revised action plan at the back of the summary. The action plan has fed into the development of the England Woodfuel Strategy that the FC is charged with producing on part of the government response to the Biomass Task Force Report.
